- My first guess would be that your connecting to a Hayes Optima
- modem, which would explain why the connection was so bad.. If that's the
- case, I'd recommend using vFC instead of v.34, which should help things a
- bit (set S54=128). Even if you're not connecting to a Hayes modem, using
- vFC instead of v.34 might help, and/or you could try disabling the 3429
- symbol rate (S54=96). Additionally you may want to try using MNP4 instead
- of LAP-M (S27=32).
